Tribute to the Chasm Bridge
Merry Christmas!
But Christmas or not, it is Friday again, and even though I’ve let the rest of this blog slip, it is time for another Friday Map.
This map was inspired by the adventure in the promotion for the first ever issue of Dungeon Magazine (the promo was included as an insert in an issue of Dragon at the time).
The Chasm Bridge is a small fortress and bridge over a chasm in the underdark. Obviously the characters will have to cross this bridge to get to where they are going, or end up spellunking randomly through the underdark to find an alternate routing.
There are in fact two bridges here. The main bridge is a massive stone structure of unknown construction that was built centuries or even millennia ago. Below it and to the South is a smaller rope and wood bridge that has been errected by the gnomes who defend the fort here.
For on the far side of the bridge is a gnomish fort and toll-gate with many gnomish crossbowmen manning the battlements to fight for their toll, if necessary.

Tribute to the Chasm Bridge
This piece just scream fantasy for me. I don’t know if it’s the ghost of Moria, but I’m a sucker for subterran chasms.
Chasm Bridge is one of the best adventures ever published in Dungeon/Dragon, thanks to the fact that it was basically just an encounter that could be slipped into any campaign.
I remember it very foldly.
The only thing I can think to say is… YOINK!
What issue of Dragon was it in?
Dragon #131
I actually have an extra copy of the pullout adventure from Dragon #131. If anyone has something to trade, I’ll be happy to talk!
I’ve keyed this up and will be using it as the centrepiece of a post going out on Tuesday 26th July 2011. I’ve put a link into the post to lead back to here.
I’ll be keying up more maps in the future and using others in my own campaign. Keep ‘em coming!
Awesome, I’ll promote it… probably next Monday, August 1st.
As a bonus, Matthew Schmeer has formatted the adventure for PDF and I’ve loaded it into DropBox, then posted a link on the blog so that it can be downloaded from there.

I had a go at recreating this map using Dwarven Forge. I posted some pictures of it here: http://tohitarseclass0.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/tribute-to-tribute-to-chasm-bridge.html
